I think so, it needs to be and feel simple, humanistic, individual and meaningful for a spark to start change, it was the start for me, a bit challenging to incorporate it at home with three kids but I hope to carry it on in some small way. Thank you for reading!

I loved this Katerina. We often think we need to work harder to find ourselves, when what we really need is some space away from the routines and expectations that have become so loud. Your trip gave you that space. I hope you can bring some of it home with you and keep making room for the curious and creative parts of yourself in everyday life too. πŸ’•

Oh my I forgot to come back here... I am here now... Yes routines, expectations, responsibilities can fill us up so easily. For me creating space needs negotiating my time and carving it into my life. Time is so precious and how we use it with self and our loved ones. This trip felt like a gift, last time I was away on my own was in my 20s visiting a friend in Perth. I need to think more about how to protect some time for myself.

Oh gosh. Yes its easy to get busy with life and responsibilities until you forget you barely made some time for yourself. Hope you make it more often now you could see its positive impact 😌

Certainly writing the positive impact here helps to return to that memory and hopefully remind me to make space for that again. πŸ’•

Katerina, the National Gallery becomes more than a tourist stop; it becomes the first place on the journey where you can encounter your own story outside the roles that usually organize your days. The conference expanded your network, yet the deeper return came through following curiosity, surrendering routine, and recognizing which habits belonged to expectation and which belonged to you. β€œThe small distance between who I thought I had become and who I have always been” gives the essay its truest measure, especially for anyone whose competence has gradually crowded out play, intuition, and voice. Grateful for the candor with which you allowed travel to create enough space for forgotten parts of yourself to become audible again.

Thank you so much for this wonderful reflection, it certainly more then a conference and tourist stops for me, I really needed this time to work through things. The exhibit on first day was completely unplanned, I believe in fate, sometimes things happen in life when we are on our way to another place, to redirect us or remind us where we are heading. Thank you for following my journey!

Katerina, your closing words shift this exchange toward the value of being accompanied while meaning is still taking shape. Personal change rarely arrives with a finished explanation, and sharing the journey allows readers to witness the questions before they become conclusions. I am glad to follow without asking the experience to resolve itself too quickly. Thank you for letting us accompany the work while it remains alive and unfolding.

Yes it's very much alive and unfolding before me... I have a lot more work to do in this space πŸ™πŸΌ

Yes it feels like both. Oh good for you starting your Substack on vacation! Time and space to think is often what's needed to move towards something that's feels important at the time.

Travel and time away. Refreshing and exhausting at the same time. It's a good time for creativity. I started my substack on a vacation

My reply slipped out of synch...lol
